Sun screen alternatives

Have you ever wondered why sunscreen is so expensive?

Why it has crazy chemicals you can't pronounce in it?

Why it burns your eyes?

Because it's poison.

For you, for me, the sea, the planet.

Each bottle purchased becomes one more added to the trash piled high on land.

It becomes embedded in your skin, your blood, your liver. It clogs your internal system with unnatural toxins.

But what else can you do to avoid sun burns?

Well it starts with being aware.

Aware of what your skin needs.

There are internal and external precautions to take that do not require buying expensive plastic bottle at the pharmacy…

The sun is dangerous when it is closest.

In the summer, close to earth, & 10am-2pm, close to you.

The sun is good for you. Taking small doses every day increases serotonin, the natural happy drug! It also helps keep your bones strong and regulate your hormones.

So what do i do?

Slowly adjust your body to the sun.

1. Allow small regions to be kissed by the sun in winter. Increase regions and length of time as the sun gets closer to earth (summer).

2. Once summer is upon us to make sure you are aware of...

a) How your skin feels.

When your skin feels hot it is beginning to burn. If in the sun for long periods of time try to cover up with hats and clothing, preferably breathable & light in color to reflect not attract the sun.

Lather on some protective oils with zinc oxide added (a DIY tinted moisturiser in recipe page)

b) How hydrated your cells are.

Drink plenty of water, coconut water and lemon to water are a bonus.

Have plenty of fresh fruits and veggies to keep extra hydrated.

Berries and dark leafy greens will protect against free radical damage (sun burns), supplements like spirulina have the same effect on the skin. Internally hydrating your body with minerals and proteins that fight against the sun's harsh rays.

Recap:

Minimize the time in the sun 10-2 during summer, wear protective gear, eat fresh fruits and veggies to protect your skin!

When you stop buying chemically laden plastic bottles of sunscreen you are helping yourself & the planetl :)
